Mechanical and Electrical Modalities: Physiotherapists may use different modalities for pain relief, muscle spasm, inflammation and swelling, wound healing, increasing movement and strength. Examples of modalities include Hot and Cold Interventions, Ultrasound, Transcutaneous Nerve Stimulation (TNS), Interferential Current (IFC), Muscle Stimulation (EMS), Remedial exercises.
